As a tribute to Morecambe's most famous son, comedian and bird spotter, a performance space for the public to gather and interact was devised. A life size sculpture of Eric by Graham Ibbeson stands at the top of a flight of steps reminiscent of the Christmas steps in the Morecambe and Wise show. The steps and area are inscribed with the names of the stars who performed on the show over the the last few decades as well as the duo's jokes, catch phrases and end of show theme tune 'Bring Me Sunshine'. A changing sequence of lights embedded into the steps, is triggered every few minutes – very popular with Morecambe fans.
